Customer Review: Great tv, but with some sacfices
This is my first HDTV, ive had it for about 4 months now. The HD picture is
great, ive never seen better. The av and SV picture is also pretty good for an
LCD. the Air tv is horrible though, i have a hard time getting channels at all
withought an antena...and even then, not so easy.
The remote is good, although if you only want to use 1 remote to controll
everything, look into getting a learning remote since no universal remotes that
i have seen support protron.
This tv's only HD inputs are DVI and D4, it doesnt support HD through
componant cables, this isnt really a bad thing, it doesn mean that you will have
to buy different cables and probably some cable converters. I know for a fact
that they do sell Xbox 360 d4 cables as i had to buy some on ebay.
I paid 480 for mine, and LOVE it, at the 400-600 dollar range, this tv
cant be beat!

Customer Review: piece of garbage
This is the worst online purchasing experience I've ever had. I bought this unit
online, paid for expediting delivery, and it came in late, which I didn't
complain about. The unit worked only ONCE, and the power never turns on any
more. Called the customer service, and they said I should call whom I purchased
it from. I was like a ball being kicked around with no help. Finally SpectonIQ
agreed to pick up my unit at their cost and send me a new one. Three weeks has
passed, and they still haven't sent UPS to pick up this trash. I'm going to file
complaint to BBB. Hope they send me a good replacement and go out of business.
Customer Review: Great value, perfect for the car with 2 kids
This DVD player has been perfect for what I wanted -- an inexpensive, 2-screen
system for the car. For the actual player, I used my old case to hang on the
back seat, because the case that comes with it I couldn't figure out a way to
mount it so I didn't have to take it down to change DVDs. For the second screen
the included case is fine. The cord is nice and long, too, which had been a
problem with my old player. It doesn't play those Doritos-smudged DVDs quite as
well as my home player, but picture and sound quality is good as long as you
keep your DVDs clean.

Customer Review: HOLY crap what a great DEAL!
I will keep this short and sweet, if you have an HDTV with HDMI input, and you
dont want to spend a crap load of loot on Poo Ray or Hd DVD get this player. I
bought this from a local retailer for over 10 bucks BELOW fifty, you can do the
math. I wondered how it would compare to the Insignia and Zenith players that
you can get at BB and CC for around $50. I took it home and proceeded to open
the hood. After dropping screws down in my couch, I was sad that this doesnt
have the Mediatek chipset which is considered to be the best LOW priced
upconversion chip, it did however have the Zoran Vidalis 888 chipset that is
also standard in the Zenith and Insignia budget players. So in effect I have the
same player that most people pay between fifty and sixty bucks for quite a bit
less than FOURTY!!! Not a bad deal at all.
I upgraded from a Toshiba SD-3950 which had SEVERE judder and motion
artifacts in some sequences (noteable example when Picard finds Kirk in the
Nexus in Generations) like grass and trees in wide shots and light coming
through blinds etc. I also didnt have a fiber optic out on my old player. This
player fixed BOTH of my problems while giving me closer to what my TV SHOULD
look like even while enjoying my old DVD's! You DO need to have this hooked up
with HDMI to pass signals over 480P, which is common in these players. I have 2
minor caveats, 1st this player has blue led's in the front that look rather
stylish but could be a distraction if you watch movies in the dark. I have yet
to find a way to dim or disable these manually. 2nd this player has an OBSCURE
remote code. I have the One for all URC-8910 and even after upgrading and using
the only Protron code that One for all had (SpectroniQ changed its name from
Protron last year) I couldnt control ANY of my new players functions. I
successfully programmed all my major functions into my learning remote though so
all is well.
If you expect this to be close to HD or Blu ray you will be disappointed,
IF however you are like me and like to get the best that you can WITHOUT
breaking the bank? You will love this cheap player that offers VERY decent
quality and results at a great price!

Customer Review: no customer service
I bought a 32c in November, the warranty stated in home service for 32 in and
larger. Well the thing quit working July 12th and customer service for Protron
said they would not service it but would replace it with a new unit if I sent it
back to them. I did at a cost of $169.00 UPS. They received it on July 21st. I
called them on the 24th for the status on my replacement and was informed that
they had no replacement units as they were on backorder and would be sent
asap(maybe 6 weeks or longer) I called again today "They were very rude" would
give me no information except asap. Told me to call back next week.
Customer Review: Check As To Whether A '32' Or '32[C]' Model
Protron's model 32 seems to have been superseded by a better model 32C ... with
contrast ratio of 1200:1 over the 32's 800:1, etc. Also, the 'C' model's
speakers are not detachable and rest below the screen.
My 32C just arrived from PCRush.com for $1,264.00 + freight of $28.00 =
$1,292.00.
Being a state of the art 32" LCD TV, it is the biggest bang for the bucks
I could find.

Customer Review: Good deal for the $$
I've had this set for almost a year and a half. It's nowhere near the best set
out there, but it really does an amazing job for the $$. I needed a new TV, but
i'm not such a video guy that I wanted all the bells and whistles...this fit the
bill nicely.
Pros - value, good picture quality, hdmi input, VGA input, digital co-ax
output, neat touch-sensitive buttons on the front, built-in HD tuner
cons - remote not the best, brand name recognition???
Customer Review: The Worst Customer Support - Do not buy PROTRON!!
I have been trying to get a power adapter for my Protron for 8 months. They have
continually lied to me and others that the adapter is coming in "3 weeks". It
never arrives. Their staff lied about the name of the support supervisor and
would not give me the information regarding their corporate office. I located
them and called to make a complaint. They never responded. I spent $1400 for the
set. They are manufacturing in China. DO NOT BUY A PROTRON.

Customer Review: Protron 26" LCD TV - Not bad for the price
I have had this LCD TV for 2 years without any major issues.
1) Picture
I use it as my PC monitor and have HD Cable hooked up to it as well. Since
it is not 1080p I know I am not getting the best picture from the cable, but
pictures on my PC a look fine. Does motion blur a little with sports and car
racing.
2) Remote
I see many reviews of people complaining about remotes in general, but to
me these are the same people who can't program VCRs (as they said in the old
days (90s)-haha). Anyway this remote is very straight forward, one you
understand the functions of "Menu" and "Enter"
3) Speakers
Nice looking. Pretty loud. Setting goes from 0 - 100. Its seams 1-30,
30-60,60-100 are fairly distinctive sound levels
4) General appearance - Looks clean. Stand is stylish
5) Size & Wt - Pretty thin and light
6) Inputs - The are on both sides (including speaker output) and have DVI
(for computer). Not that there are multiple forms of DVI
6) PIP - Great. multiple size or even split 50/50. Bad thing is the PIP is
surrounded by blue line which temperarily burns in.
7) CON - Burn in. Since I use this for PC Monitor, there are many websites
that have the majority of the screen stationary. That image will burn in
tempararily. So far nothing stays. However, I always make sure my screen saver
is working. Also, as a PC we almost never turn this TV off.
8) Recommendation - I bought for around $600 from Sears. I haven't noticed
this brand around as much as other newer names like Olevia, Westinghouse, etc.
However, I would recommend at price more like $350 or less in today's market.
However, you will only find Protron on Ebay, etc since there was a lawsuit
between the company and suppliers. Overall this TV has been worth the cost I
paid. I hope is last for another few years.
General recommendation when buying from companies like Sear and WalMart -
be weary of their specif Brands (just as Kenmore products from Sears). They
basically spec out to suppliers and go with the cheapest (which means service
sucks unless Sears supports it and you are buying a cheaper made product).

Do not waste your time on these products. These TV's are considered off shore
brands that cannot be repaired. My unit is out of warranty (18mths old). These
TV's are exchange units only when they are still under warranty. Once the
warranty expires you are out of luck. Purchase a name brand and find out about
repair options prior to purchase.

I own this TV set. While my experience with this set has been good, I have
bought 3 other products from Protron aka SpectronIQ all of which stopped working
and there is NO customer service. 42" PLTV - stopped working after 10 months. I
was required to send it to the company in California at my expense in November
2007. It is now July 2008 and they have not returned my TV. The customer service
does not have managers or any escalation procedure. They wont even give a
correct address for this company. I also own a Protron 10" portable DVD player
it stopped working after 12 months. Also a SpectronIQ/Protron upconvert DVD
player Stopped working after 1 year. AVOID ANY PRODUCT BY THIS COMPANY! Google
Protron and SpectronIQ to read numerous complaints and Rip OFF reprots.

I bought the Protron 37" Dual Tuner LCD HDTV back in September of 2006 and it
still has an incredible HD picture. I have never had a problem so I have never
had to deal with their customer service. I use our cable remote but the original
still works and the sound and clarity are great and I love my tv, to this very
day and it is used daily.

I bought this product a year ago. It would not turn on in November. I was
directed to ship it to them in spite of an in home repair warranty. I shipped it
and it was recieved by them November 27, 2007. It is now February 14, 2008 and
they only give me a run around. I have filed complaints with the state attorney
general, the FTC and the local news channel. Please Google this company first
and see the numerous complaints on line against them. DO NOT BUY!!!

not well designed. menu is tough to navigate and manual does not explain
functions. I.E. picture setting are only usable with DVD not cable or other.you
cannot mount this TV on a wall or stand. protron customer service told me you
could. i purchased a 400 stand based on their assurance. could not mount it so i
called protron and they said ,sorry we gave you bad info. repeated request to
talk to a supervisor where denied. the stand people said protron changed their
name to spectronic due to this problem.some TV where falling to the ground....
